Guatemala Fishing at Sailfish Bay Lodge

Dec 1 - Randy Raisins raised 12 sailfish and released 5 conventional on Sirena.

The Jim Sheffield Group returned for their second trip to SBL and included Jim, David Hoover, Ray Randell and Jeff Warren. They raised 18 sailfish and released 11 conventional on Ballena. They hooked briefly a Blue Marlin that was later lost and also released 2 dorado.

Bill and Sheila Hassan raised 22 sailfish and released 3 on fly. They also released a 350 lb Blue Marlin conventional.

Dec 2 - Randy R. released 6 sailfish conventional with 12 raises aboard Sirena.

The Sheffield group raised 22 sailfish and released 16 conventional on Ballena.

We welcomed fly fisher Joe Kern and his wife Christie to Sailfish Bay. Fishing aboard Mariner they raised 3 sailfish and released 2. They also raised 3 Blue marlin and released TWO 350+!

Dec 3 - Joe and Christie raised 8 sailfish and released 3 on fly. They also nailed another 250 lb Blue marlin and a dorado on Mariner.

Dec 5 - Jim Gardner and his group arrived at Sailfish Bay. Joining Jim were Broughton Cochran, Allen Butts, and Frank Norton.

Aboard Sirena they raised 23 sailfish and released 20 conventional. They had one double hook-up. They had one triple hook-up. AND they had one quadruple hook-up! Plus they released 1 dorado.

Fishing also aboard Mariner they raised 20 sailfish and released 12 conventional. They also released a 350 lb Blue marlin and 2 dorado.

Dec 6 - The Gardner group did very well again today. Fishing on Mariner they raised 26 sailfish and released 21 conventional.

Fishing on Allure, the Gardner group released 10 sailfish on 24 raises. Jim was more then thrilled because ALL 10 sailfish were hooked up by themselves as they cast to the fish. They also raised 3 Blue marlin and hooked one.

We welcomed back Jared Sender and he was joined this year by Albert Seabag. Fishing aboard Sirena the guys released 9 sailfish conventional.

Denis, our manager fished aboard Maverick with crew and they raised 18 sailfish and released 13. They also had 2 doubles.

Dec 7 - Fishing aboard Sirena Jared and Albert raised 15 sailfish and released 13 conventional. The also raised another 12 sailfish and released 4 on fly!! Great day.

The Gardner group only fished 1/2 day on Mariner because 3 of the guys wanted to see Antigua and have dinner over there. They raised 20 sails and released 10 conventional. And of course they got their daily marlin.

Jim fished solo on Allure focusing on fly fishing. He raised 10 sails and released 5 all on fly. 1 out of 2 is exceptional fly fishing.

Dec 8 - Jared and Albert fishing aboard Sirena raised 23 sailfish, released 11 conventional and 1 on fly.

The Gardner group on Mariner raised 29 sailfish and released 11 conventional. They also raised a Blue marlin.

The Gardner group also fishing on Allure released 2 sails on fly.

Dec 9 - Dan and Gary Yetman arrived for some Guatemala fishing action. Aboard Maverick they raised 19 sailfish and released 10 conventional.

Dec 10 - Dan and Gary raised 29 sailfish and released 19 conventional aboard Maverick.

We welcomed Tom Valenti, Vincent Petruccillo, Michael Dalfonso, and Frank Garofalo to Sailfish Bay. Fishing aboard Sirena they raised 27 sailfish and released 8 conventional. They also released 2 dorado.

Dec 11 - The Valenti group raised 42 sailfish and released 25 conventional on Sirena!! They also released 4 dorado.

Dec 12 - The Valenti group raised 15 sailfish and released 10 conventional. They also released a Big Ass Blue marlin estimated at 600 lbs. Probably a record for Sailfish Bay. Plus 2 dorado.

Dec 13 - The Don Quincey group returned to Sailfish Bay again in 2007. Don was joined by Lowell Garrett, Douglas King, and Ropen Nalbandian. Fishing aboard Maverick they raised 40 sailfish and released 19 conventional. They also caught 1 dorado.

Dec 14 - The Quincey group raised 20 sailfish and released 12 conventional on Maverick.

It did not take Dan Miller and Jack Patteson long to return to SBL. Having fished with us in May they returned from some December sailfish action. Fishing aboard Sirena, Dan & Jack raised 37 sailfish and released 18. They released most conventional, but also released a few on fly. They also caught 3 dorado.

Dec 15 - Dan and Jack raised 51 sailfish and released 30 conventional on Sirena!

Dec 16 - UNBELIEVABLE! - Dan and Jack raised 99 sailfish on Sirena and released 51 sailfish in one day.

Bobby Hall returned to Sailfish Bay after visiting us in 2005. He showed up at the right time. Joining Bobby were sons Brett and Andrew along with one of their fly fishing guides from Belize Eworth Garbutt. Fishing aboard Maverick they raised 70 sailfish, released 22 conventional and 6 on fly.

Dec 17 - The Hall group raised 15 sailfish on Mariner and released 4. 1 on fly and 3 on spinning gear. They also hooked a Blue marlin on fly that was a short battle.

Marc & Ron Felton made their 3rd trip to Sailfish Bay and were joined this time by David McIntyre. Fishing on Allure they raised 25 sailfish and released 7 on fly with one double release.

We were also joined by outdoor writer Dave Vedder and Rawleigh Irvin. They raised 21 sailfish and released 2 on fly rods aboard Sirena.

Dec 18 - The Vedder Group raised 31 sailfish on Sirena and released 9 on fly.

The Hall Group raised 39 sailfish and released 14 conventional on Maverick. They also caught 2 dorado.

The Felton Group raised 26 sailfish and released 6 on fly with Allure.

Dec 19 - The Vedder Group raised 37 sailfish and released 8 on fly aboard Sirena.

The Felton Group raised 36 sailfish and released 9 on fly aboard Allure.

Dec 20 - The Vedder Group slammed em big time on fly today. They raised 51 sailfish and released 15 fly fishing.

Dec 21 - Steve Mottel fished just an afternoon on Maverick and raised 19 sailfish, releasing 10 conventional. He also released one Blue Marlin and 4 dorado.

Dec 23 - The Manning Family arrived to fish with us over the Christmas Holiday. Sam, Cathy, Wesley, William, and Andrew raised 43 sailfish and released 26 conventional on Sirena.

Dec 24 - The Manning Family released 11 sailfish conventional and another 4 on fly aboard Sirena.

Dec 25 - The Manning Family released 5 sailfish on fly aboard Sirena.

Dec 28 - Wayne and Ryan Maloy arrived at Sailfish Bay for the hot Guatemala fishing. They raised 60 sailfish on Sirena and released 34 conventional!

Dec 29 - The Maloy's raised 35 sailfish and released 24 conventional on Sirena.

Dec 30 - The Maloy's raised 21 sailfish and released 13 conventional on Sirena.
