Guatemala Fishing at Sailfish Bay Lodge

Nov 1 - Joe & Carol Musial were able to sneak in 1 day of fishing after arriving on a cruise ship. Joe was with us back in 2006 and returns again in Dec 2008 with his son for another 3 days of fishing. The Musials raised 3 sailfish on Sirena and released 1 conventional. They also caught 4 dorado.

Nov 2 - The Jack party raised 6 sailfish on Maverick and released 4 conventional. They also caught 1 dorado.

Nov 6 - Mark Gross, Randy Prior, Earl & Pat Koran, Pat Plazek, Ken Frank, Anthony Strubhart, and Jeff Williams arrived at Sailfish Bay.

Fishing on Gypsy they raised 9 sailfish and released 6 conventional.

Fishing on Sirena they raised 29 sailfish and released 18 conventional. They also caught 2 50 lb. dorado!

Nov 7 - The Williams group raised 24 sailfish on Sirena and released 12 conventional. They also caught 1 dorado.

The Williams group raised 13 sailfish on Gypsy and released 10 conventional. They caught 1 dorado as well.

The Chris Harle group joined us for a day and they slammed the hell out of em raising 17 sailfish on Maverick and releasing 10 conventional. They also caught 1 250 lb Blue marlin and 1 yellowfin tuna.

Nov 8 - The Williams group raised 11 sailfish on Sirena and released 8 conventional. They also caught 1 200 lb. Blue marlin and 3 dorado.

The Williams group raised 11 sailfish on Gypsy, releasing 3 conventional and 1 on fly.

Nov 9 - Craig, Chad, and Rick Sedmak arrived at Sailfish Bay. They raised 15 sailfish on Sirena releasing 4 conventional and 1 on fly. They also caught 3 dorado.

Nov 10 - The Sedmak group raised 16 sailfish on Sirena releasing 7 conventional and 4 on fly rods. The also caught 1 50 lb yellowfin tuna and 2 dorado.

Nov 11 - The Sedmak group raised 10 sailfish on Sirena and released 9 conventional. They also caught 6 yellowfin tuna and 1 dorado.

Arriving for their 3rd trip to Sailfish Bay were Bill & Sheila Hassan. Always fly fishing - Bill & Sheila raised 11 sailfish on Gypsy and released 2 on fly.

Mark Nonis, Ron Brinkhurst, Richard Ringma, and Al Hutchings arrived from Canada. Fishing on Mad Bavarian, they raised 11 sailfish and released 4 conventional. They also caught 5 dorado, 8 yellowfin tuna AND...and 1 250 lb Black marlin. That's gotta be some kind of "SLAM."

Nov 12 - Bill & Sheila raised 15 sailfish on Gypsy and released 3 on fly. They also hooked a marlin on fly, but it was a short battle.

The Nonis group raised 12 sailfish on Sirena and released 5 conventional. They also hooked 3 on fly, but did not land them.

Nov 13 - Bill & Sheila raised 9 sailfish on Gypsy and released 3 on fly.

The Nonis group raised 15 sailfish on Sirena and released 5 on fly.

The Nonis group raised 6 sailfish on Mad Bavarian and released 1 on fly.

Nov 16 - Jared Sender arrived for his 3rd trip to Sailfish Bay bringing friend Ross Didia. Fly fishing on Sirena they raised 4 and released 3 sailfish.

Cameron MacKay also joined us from Australia. Fishing on Maverick raising 5 sailfish and releasing 3 conventional. He also caught 3 dorado.

Nov 17 - The Sender group raised 12 sailfish on Sirena and released 5 on fly.

Cameron raised 12 sailfish on Maverick and released 2 on fly. He also caught one 150 lb marlin conventional as well as 2 tuna.

Nov 18 - The Sender group raised 11 sailfish on Sirena and released 2 on fly. They also caught 1 dorado on fly.

Cameron raised 10 sailfish and released 3 conventional on Maverick. He also caught 3 dorado and 1 tuna.

Nov 19 - Steve and Carol Powell raised 24 sailfish on Maverick and released 12 conventional.

Ed Opler returned for his 6th trip to Sailfish Bay. Joining Ed were Jorge Trucco and Tom Montgomery. Fly Fishing on Gypsy they raised 9 sailfish with 3 bites and 1 release.

Also, Bob and Judy Oliver visited us on the coast for some rest and relaxation.

Nov 20 - The Opler group raised 1 sailfish on Gypsy with 0 releases.

The Powell group raised 2 sailfish on Maverick and released 0. Cold water has moved in.

Nov 21 - Goose eggs again. The Opler group raised 0 sailfish on Gypsy with 0 releases.

The Powell group raised 0 sailfish on Maverick with 0 releases.

Dan Alsaker returned for his second trip to SBL. Joining Dan were Shell Alsaker and Tom Hemingway. Fishing on Sirena they raised 0 and released 0.

Nov 22 - The Opler group raised 3 sailfish on Gypsy with zero sailfish releases. However, they released 1 350 lb. Black marlin.

The Alsaker group raised 9 sailfish and released 2 on fly rods. They also caught 1 dorado.

Matt Hamilton, Debbie O'Donnell, Marjorie Papaianou, and Martin Kaefer joined us at Sailfish Bay. Fishing on Maverick they raised 4 sailfish and released 1 conventional. They also caught 4 dorado and 1 yellowfin tuna.

Nov 23 - The Alsaker group raised 10 sailfish on Sirena and released 7 conventional.

Gunther Aman joined us for his second trip this year along with Stefan Teufl. Fly fishing on Gypsy they raised 7 sailfish and releasing 1 off 3 bites.

Nov 24 - The Aman group raised 3 sailfish on Gypsy and released 2 on fly with 2 bites.

Nov 25 - The Aman group raised 6 sailfish on Gypsy releasing 1 on fly with 4 bites.

Nov 26 - The Aman group raised 0 sailfish on Gypsy with 0 releases.

Nov 27 - The Aman group raised 3 sailfish on Gypsy and released 0 on fly. They caught one dorado.

Nov 28 - Bruce and Wynne Sharpe returned for their second trip to Sailfish Bay. Also, joining them was Elle Sharpe. Fishing on Maverick they raised 4 sailfish and released 1 conventional. They also caught 4 dorado.

Nov 29 - The Sharpe group raised 4 sailfish on Maverick and released 2 conventional. They also caught 1 Blue marlin and 4 dorado.

Nov 30 - Arlon Jahke returned to Sailfish Bay for his second trip. Joining him were Randy Cheek, Steve Alexander, Mark Messenger, Brian Robinson, Robert Cheek, Larry Weatherford, and William Brooks.

Fishing on Gypsy they raised 2 sailfish and released 0. They caught 3 dorado.

Fishing on Sirena they raised 3 sailfish and released 2 conventional. They also caught 3 dorado.
