Guatemala Fishing at Sailfish Bay Lodge

Jan 2011 - Guatemala Fishing Report

01/06/2011

NOTE: Keep in mind the difference between fly fishing and conventional when reviewing the fishing reports. A couple of clients called in to ask so we thought we would explain here. When fly fishing you are running 1/2 the teasers as you do when fishing conventional. So in theory you will raise less fish. Fly anglers need to be able to cast so the teasers are removed from one side of the boat. Also fly anglers will most likely be 1 out of 3 or 1 out of 4 (1 out of 2 if you are good) on the number of fish "hooked" to the number "released." So when you have 3 releases on fly that might translate to 10 - 15 when fishing conventional. A nice example of this are the fishing reports for Jan 18,19,20 to compare.
