Nov 2013 - Guatemala Fishing Report
Nov 20 - 30
Dominic Dominguez arrived for his 2nd trip with us. He brought his family to celebrate Thanksgiving in Guatemala. Along with Dominic we welcomed Denise, Joshua, and Jacob. Fishing 3 days on Maverick they raised 42 sailfish, had 38 bites and released 23. They also raised 1 sailfish on fly, hooked it but didn't get it in.
Nigel Sowerby arrived with his sister Jennifer Nelms to fish 5 days on Gypsy. They raised 92 sailfish, had 76 bites and released 50.
David McCann returned for his 5th trip with us. Joining Dave were his cousin Dave McCann and Michael Reed. Fishing 1 day on Maverick they raised 15 sailfish, had 13 bites and released.
Father/Son team of Jamie & Burleson Smith arrived for 2 days fishing on Maverick. On Day 1 they raised 18 sailfish, had 17 bites and released 15. On Day 2 they raised 7 sailfish, had 2 bites and released 2 conventional in the morning. They switched over to fly fishing in the afternoon and raised 6 more sailfish, had 4 bites and released 3 on fly! Great day.

OUR BOAT MAVERICK WINS THE INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT!!!!!!
The XIV International Billfish Tournament was held in Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala from Nov 11 - 16, 2013. Anglers from across the globe competed in one of the region's most legendary events.
During the tournament 945 sailfish were released by 15 boats! An average of 16 sailfish per boat per day! November is proving once again it is one of the top billfish months in Guatemala. Over the 4 days the numbers for Maverick were as follows:
Day 1: 47 Raises, 43 Bites, 33 Releases
Day 2: 32 Raises, 29 Bites, 17 Releases
Day 3: 28 Raises, 25 Bites, 17 Releases
Day 4: 26 Raises, 21 Bites, 16 Releases

Training for The International Tournament with our team on Maverick and Gypsy we averaged over 30 releases per day per boat!

Capt Jim Toabe returned for his 10th trip! Joining Capt Jim were Dave Mallen, Bill Shaheen, and Rosario Zapalla. Fishing on Sirena for 3 days they raised 92 sailfish and released 71! They lost count on the number of dorado that were caught each of the 3 days it was so many.
Palmer Long returned for his 2nd trip this year having fished with us in March as well. Joining Palmer was Jack Shuey. Fishing on Sirena for 3 days they raised 39 sailfish, had 30 bites and released 26. On the first day alone they caught 20 dorado. They also raised 1 Blue marlin
