April 2007 - Fishing Report
April 1 - The Skiver group released 10 sailfish conventional on Ballena with 15 raises.
The Ritz party released 1 sailfish conventional and 2 sailfish on fly aboard Piragua with 29 raises.
The Nagy group released 22 sailfish conventional on Sirena with 27 raises and 9 sailfish in a combination of conventional and fly fishing aboard Maverick.
April 2 - It did not take Tom Love and his group long to return to Sailfish Bay having fished with us back in January. He was joined once again by Frank Love, Walter Reames, and James Feighny. The group released 3 sailfish conventional and 2 sailfish on fly aboard Sirena with 20 raises and 1 sailfish on fly aboard Piragua.
We were also joined by repeat clients Stu Brandes and Terry King. They released 1 sailfish on fly aboard Maverick with 5 raises.
April 3 - The Love group released 8 sailfish on fly aboard Piragua raising 25 sails and released 6 sailfish on fly aboard Sirena with 16 raises.
The Brandes/King group released 2 sailfish on fly with 20 raises on Maverick.
April 4 - The Love group released 4 sailfish on fly aboard Sirena with 15 raises and 4 sailfish on fly aboard Piragua + a 450 lb Blue marlin.
The Brandes/King group released 2 sailfish on fly aboard Maverick with 23 raises.
April 5 - The Brandes/King group released 2 sailfish on fly aboard Maverick with 17 raises.
Dave & Oliver Rogers joined us at Sailfish Bay and released 6 sailfish conventional, 2 sailfish on fly and a small dorado.
April 6 - Cindy Phillips group released 12 sailfish conventional on Sirena with 20 raises.
Dave & Oliver released another 6 sailfish conventional and 2 more on fly with 25 raises aboard Che Cito.
April 7 - Dave & Oliver released 7 sailfish on 19 raises. 4 conventional & 3 on fly. Oliver Rogers (15 years old) claims the unofficial world record for a 135 - 140 lb. sailfish (est by the captain) on a 12 wt. fly rod with 20# tippet. Current world record is 130#. CONGRATULATIONS Oliver. Superb job!
April 8 - 11 - Easter break for crews.
April 12 - The Ferguson group arrived that included Scott, Dirk, Todd, and Richard. Fishing aboard Spindrift they released 2 sailfish conventional with 5 raises, one 250 lb. Blue marlin, and 11 Dorado.
April 13 - The Ferguson group released 4 sailfish on fly and 1 300 lb. Blue marlin on Spindrift.
Repeat client Scooter Walters returned to Sailfish Bay with Rusty Goff and they released 2 sailfish on fly aboard Maverick.
April 14 - The Ferguson group released 2 sailfish on fly aboard Spindrift.
The Walters group had 0 releases on fly aboard Maverick.
Stephan & Philip Houseknecht, Elliot Brook, and Oliver White arrived on the coast. They released 2 sailfish on fly with 8 raises aboard Sirena.
April 15 - The White group released 4 sailfish on Ballena with 15 raises. 2 conventional and 2 on fly + 2 dorado.
April 16 - The White group released 1 sailfish on fly aboard Ballena.
Repeat clients Max Steiner & Carl Hood returned to Sailfish Bay. They released 1 300 lb. Blue marlin on Maverick.
April 17 - The Steiner group released 6 sailfish coventional and 1 250 lb. Blue marlin.
The White group had 0 sailfish releases on fly on 3 raises.
April 18 - The Steiner group released 5 sailfish conventional on Maverick with 12 raises + a 300 lb. Blue marlin.
Cindy Phillip's group on Sirena released 4 sailfish conventional and 1 300 lb. Blue marlin as well!
April 19 - Cindy's group had 7 sailfish releases conventional and 2 marlin released on Sirena. One 200 pounds and the other 350 pounds.
The Steiner group had 0 sailfish releases on Maverick and 2 bonito.
April 20 - Cindy's group released 5 sailfish conventional on 12 raises plus a 500 lb. Blue marlin.
April 21 - Walter Clark, Forrest Lipscomb, Charles Lipscomb, and William Koch arrived at Sailfish Bay. The had 5 sailfish releases conventional on Maverick with 9 raises.
April 22 - The Clark group released 10 sailfish conventional with 18 raises and one 200 lb. marlin.
A local group of clients fished on Sirena and released 9 sailfish conventional with 17 raises.
April 23 - The Clark group released 1 sailfish conventional on 5 raises.
Jim Parkman, Joel Parkman, and Alex Rich arrived at SBL. Fishing aboard Spindrift they released 2 dorado and 2 bonito.
Alberto Ramirez, his son Alberto Ramirez, and Rafael Perez arrived in Guatemala and they released 7 sailfish conventional on 17 raises aboard Sirena.
April 24 - The Ramirez group on Sirena released 9 sailfish conventional on 11 raises.
The Parkman group released 5 sailfish conventional and 1 blue marlin. They also hooked up a striped marlin that eventually got off the line.
Trevor & Patricia Wheatley arrived at Sailfish Bay and on Day #1 of their fishing adventure released two marlin, one at 250 lbs and the other at 300 lbs. What a day.
April 25 - The Ramirez group released 6 sailfish conventional on Sirena.
The Wheatley group released 3 sailfish conventional on 9 raises.
April 26 - The Ramirez group released 11 sailfish conventional on Sirena.
The Wheatleys released 4 sailfish conventional on 6 raises.
April 27 - Larry Likover and his group arrived at SBL and it included Mark Kalish, Dale Watts, Phoebe Watts, David Watts, Craig Scott, Marilou Scott, Larry Jenkins, Larry Mariott, Joey Goree, and Phil Berman.
The group released 19 sailfish on Day #1.
April 28 - The Likover group released 7 sailfish and 1 300 lb. marlin.
April 29 - Arriving at Sailfish Bay Lodge were John Kreider and sons John and Robert, George Rodenbusch and his son George, Tim Glascoff, David McLaurin, and Michael Hightower. On day #1 they released 6 sailfish, 1 Blue marlin, and 3 dorado.
April 30 - The Kreider group released 10 sailfish and raised another Blue marlin.
